She is a proud co-founder of the innovative workers’ rights law firm AndersonDodson, P.C.
After growing up in Arkansas, Penn graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire with a double major. She received her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. Since then she has practiced employment law on behalf of employees for almost the entirety of her career. Don’t let that youthful appearance deceive you – it’s all Photoshop. Penn has been practicing law since 2003 and before that worked in several employment law firms in other capacities for close to a decade before that.
Among her awards and recognitions, Penn has been named a Super Lawyer for the New York Metro region in Labor & Employment law; listed among the Top Women Attorneys in New York; rated AV Preeminent by the lawyer rating company Martindale-Hubbell; and elected President of a state-wide employment lawyers’ association called NELA-GA. She is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Colorado, Georgia and New York.
Outside of law, whenever the opportunities present themselves, Penn enjoys skiing double black diamond slopes, kayaking, hiking, exploratory cooking, and making bad puns. Penn amuses herself by coming up with names she thinks are witty and clever for recipes she’s created, and keeps threatening to write a cookbook one of these days. Penn lived in Scotland for six months in college, where she briefly worked in a pub and developed an appreciation for single malts. She has also traveled to Haiti several times and maintains a deep appreciation for the vibrance of Haitian culture, one that seems to flourish beautifully in the face of the various forms of adversity its people endure. Penn’s father gave her a rifle for her first birthday, and her favorite word is serendipity.
